Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gorg Sakaflias (ranked 5630 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Rock (ranked 6449 p4p, 0 weight class). Greg Rock has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gorg Sakaflias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Greg Rock!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rock stuffs the takedown attempt from Sakaflias. Sakaflias gets slowly back to his feet.

Sakaflias closes the distance and clinches.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sakaflias creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Rock misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sakaflias.
Rock wants to get back to striking at distance but Sakaflias won't allow it.
Rock stops a takedown attempt from Sakaflias.

Sakaflias's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Both fighters circling a little - Rock finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sakaflias throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Rock shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sakaflias as he avoids it easily.
Rock keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Sakaflias blocks a jab.

Rock misses with a few strikes there.
Sakaflias has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Rock.

Rock shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sakaflias's guard.

Rock must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rock should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Rock stands up over Sakaflias, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Sakaflias wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rock throws a sloppy head kick

and Sakaflias counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Sakaflias has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Rock is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sakaflias's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sakaflias's back!

Rock is looking for a choke. Sakaflias gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Sakaflias manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Sakaflias seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rock is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sakaflias gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sakaflias is pressed up against the cage. Rock has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sakaflias down to the mat. Sakaflias avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rock tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sakaflias paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Sakaflias closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Sakaflias breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Greg Rock will probably get the nod.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sakaflias in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sakaflias wants to free his trapped foot but Rock is holding on for dear life with his legs.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rock has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sakaflias is working away from the top position though.
Sakaflias working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Rock is defending against the submission attempts here by Sakaflias.

Rock is looking to get back to full guard here but Sakaflias has managed to pass to side control instead.
Rock is pushing Sakaflias's head away, looking to escape. Sakaflias manages to hold on to the position though.
Rock is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Rock is not content to let Sakaflias control the position.
Sakaflias is staying tight to Rock's torso, preventing him from escaping.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rock moves in looking to clinch but Sakaflias pushes him off.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rock tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Sakaflias lands a big head kick that sends Rock tumbling to the mat! Sakaflias takes a step backwards and waves Rock back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Greg Rock has been cut.

Sakaflias moves into range and clinches up with Rock.

Rock jumps guard and drags Sakaflias to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Rock escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sakaflias gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rock wants to control the position but Sakaflias says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Sakaflias uses his free foot to push down on Rock's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rock.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sakaflias controlling from the full mount.
Sakaflias has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Rock tries to lock up and control but Sakaflias gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Sakaflias connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Rock takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sakaflias pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sakaflias is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rock can do to turn this around?
Sakaflias fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Sakaflias looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rock has eaten all the pies!
Sakaflias lands a heavy elbow.
Sakaflias can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rock is looking to escape.
Rock tries to lock up and control but Sakaflias gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
You get the feeling that Rock really doesn't like being in this position too much.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gorg Sakaflias showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sakaflias has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
