Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rasheed Al Malik (ranked 25061 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyung Yeon Kang (ranked 3659 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rasheed Al Malik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Kyung Yeon Kang!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jorge Garcia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kang shoots in but no luck this time.

Kang goes for a double leg but Al Malik avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Al Malik continues to drive forward.

Kang ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Al Malik moves away.

Kang closes the distance and clinches up with Al Malik, looking for a takedown. Kang pushes Al Malik against the cage but Al Malik circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kang leaves Al Malik with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kang is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Al Malik dives in and grabs Kang's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kang pushes down on Al Malik's head and hops out.

Kang shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Al Malik pinned against the cage. Al Malik gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Kang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Al Malik looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kang is fending him off so far but Al Malik persists. Nope, Kang circles away and we're back to standing.
Despite the aggression on Kang's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Kang looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Al Malik leaves Kang with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Danga de danga de dang - Al Malik scores with a four punch combination!

Kang shoots for a takedown but Al Malik saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Al Malik looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kang is fending him off so far but Al Malik persists. Nope, Kang circles away and we're back to standing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyung Yeon Kang dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Kang drives through and clinches with Al Malik against the cage.

Kang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Al Malik is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kang has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sloppy strikes from Kang. Those never looked like landing.
Al Malik displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kang.

Kang has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Al Malik avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Kang fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Al Malik has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Rasheed Al Malik is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kang tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Al Malik was well out of range. Poor timing from Kang.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kang shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Al Malik but Al Malik pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Al Malik tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kang sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Al Malik somewhat.

Kyung Yeon Kang seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Al Malik looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kang is fending him off so far but Al Malik persists. Nope, Kang circles away and we're back to standing.
Kang stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kang wants it to stay on the feet.

Kang throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kang wants to stand up but Al Malik is controlling him.
Kang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Al Malik. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kang keeping moving, preventing Al Malik from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rasheed Al Malik will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Kang is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Al Malik decides to stand back up. Al Malik steps back and let's Kang get back to his feet.

Kang decides to pull guard.
Al Malik wants to control from the top but Kang keeps moving.
Kang pulls Al Malik in close to his closed guard and prevents Al Malik from doing any damage or advancing position.

Kang throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Al Malik escapes and throws Kang's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Kang tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Al Malik tries to move to mount but Kang blocks the move with his legs.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Al Malik misses with the ground and pound.
Kang tries to improve position but can't.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kang regains half guard there - taking advantage of Al Malik's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Al Malik thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kang's head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kang tries to roll over but Al Malik keeps him under control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Kyung Yeon Kang.
I think Kang has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
