Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nicky Spite (ranked 3810 p4p, 394 weight class) and David Hilbert (ranked 4746 p4p, 448 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nicky Spite! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Hilbert! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spite throws a combination. Hilbert tries to block but a couple of punches get through. David Hilbert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hilbert takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Hilbert shoots in but Spite avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hilbert dives in and grabs Spite's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spite pushes down on Hilbert's head and hops out. Hilbert doesn't succeed with the takedown and Spite counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hilbert thinking. Nicky Spite has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Hilbert. Hilbert tries for a takedown but Spite sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Spite tests Hilbert's chin there with a solid looking shot. Spite looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Spite throws a shot to the body.

Spite is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hilbert is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Spite knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Hilbert has his foot on Spite's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Spite works his way back into a safe position though. Spite slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Hilbert takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Oh, that's bad for Spite! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hilbert swings around for an armbar but Spite sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hilbert's guard. Spite trying to control but Hilbert is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hilbert is trying to control but can't.
Spite will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Spite tries to pass to full mount but Hilbert defends it. Spite is working for a kimura but Hilbert is defending it quite comfortably.

Spite stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Hilbert dives in and grabs Spite's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spite pushes down on Hilbert's head and hops out. Spite slaps away a takedown attempt from Hilbert, before circling back to the center of the mat. Hilbert misses with a takedown and Spite counters with a three punch combo that has Hilbert backing up. Hilbert nods at Spite to acknowledge the strikes. Hilbert with a lazy takedown attempt and Spite counters with a lovely straight right hand! That kick from Spite tenderised Hilbert's leg. Hilbert is trying to keep his angry face on. Spite goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Spite lands a nice hook to Hilbert's body. Hilbert takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Spite is looking to wear down Hilbert with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Spite comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. A shot to the liver by Spite. Beautiful body shot. Spite stalks Hilbert and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hilbert's face. Hilbert staggers backwards, shaken. Hilbert fails with a takedown attempt. Spite scores with a jab to the body. Hilbert misses with a takedown and Spite counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. David Hilbert has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nicky Spite is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Spite scores with a shot to the body.
