Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ciro Garcia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Optus Coll! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coll goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Garcia closes this distance looking for a takedown but Coll circles away. Coll darts in and clinches Garcia up against the cage. Coll throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Garcia blocks it with crossed arms. Garcia gets control of Coll's arms and successfully pulls guard. Garcia will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Garcia is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Coll trying to control the position from guard on top but Garcia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Garcia will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Garcia keeping full guard, as Coll tries to pass. Garcia looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Garcia looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Coll trying to stand up but can't free himself from Garcia's guard. Garcia trying to keep a closed guard but Coll is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coll looking to pass the guard. Garcia is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Coll slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Coll wants to pass the guard but Garcia is keeping the position. Garcia is pulling down on Coll's head. It's preventing any offense from Coll, at least for the moment. Garcia is trying to keep Coll in close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Garcia is on top in guard.
Garcia postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Coll really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Garcia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Coll looking to control.
Garcia drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Coll manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Garcia has Coll in his guard. Garcia keeping moving, preventing Coll from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coll is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Garcia has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Coll is looking to defend but Garcia has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Coll! Garcia pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Coll taps out and this one is all over!
