The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garbrandt gets a clinch. Garbrandt jumps into guard, dragging Paris to the mat.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Paris's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Paris is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Garbrandt has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Paris should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Garbrandt has tightened it up now! Paris should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Cody Garbrandt! Cody Garbrandt retains his bantamweight title! After the fight, Cody Garbrandt was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
