Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Pickett (ranked 2540 p4p, 95 weight class) and Javier Vasquez (ranked 2007 p4p, 86 weight class). Pickett comes into the arena with Queen - Hammer To Fall blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Vasquez's choice of entrance music: Faster Disco. Javier Vasquez has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Pickett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Javier Vasquez! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vasquez tries for a takedown but Pickett circles away easily and Pickett connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Javier Vasquez has been cut. Vasquez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pickett's guard. Pickett looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vasquez is one step ahead there. Vasquez lands a couple of elbows. Pickett looking for a sweep. Not yet Pickett, not yet. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vasquez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pickett trying to control the position.
Vasquez stands and steps away. Pickett gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Pickett looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vasquez tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Pickett connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Vasquez with a poor takedown and Vasquez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vasquez has a takedown stuffed. Marcus Pickett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Javier Vasquez. Vasquez tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Pickett cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Vasquez tries for a takedown but Pickett circles away easily and Pickett counters with a big right hand! Oh Vasquez is in trouble here! Pickett follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marcus Pickett! Marcus Pickett was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed. Javier Vasquez was interviewed post fight and said 'Can't lie, he got me good. He has my number, no bones about it. Hats off to him.'.
