PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Raffaele Callegari (ranked 4757 p4p, 457 weight class) and Ron Wiggins (ranked 4817 p4p, 0 weight class). Callegari comes to the cage accompanied by Motorhead - Line in the Sand. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raffaele Callegari!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ron Wiggins!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wiggins shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Callegari as he avoids it easily.
Wiggins throws a wild body kick that Callegari sees coming a mile off.
It looked like Callegari was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Callegari tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wiggins was well out of range. Poor timing from Callegari.
Wiggins tries to score a power double leg takedown but Callegari sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wiggins somewhat.
Callegari is looking for a counter combo.
Callegari lands with an uppercut that bounces Wiggins off the cage and back into range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wiggins shoots in but no luck this time.
Raffaele Callegari has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ron Wiggins.
Callegari misses the shot to the body.
Callegari throws a nice looking combination but Wiggins bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Callegari fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wiggins manages to avoid it.
Callegari stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Callegari wants it to stay on the feet.
Callegari was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Wiggins misses with a takedown

Wiggins clinches with his opponent.
Wiggins jumps guard but Callegari turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Wiggins tries to pull guard but Callegari holds him up against the cage and eventually Wiggins drops back down to his feet.
Callegari gets underhooks to prevent Wiggins's takedown attempt.
Wiggins lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Callegari wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Callegari's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Wiggins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Callegari smiles and moves away.
Callegari blocks a head kick by Wiggins.
Raffaele Callegari is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Callegari throws a body shot but no joy.
Callegari lands with an overhand left.
Callegari fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wiggins doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Callegari counter with a right hand.
Wiggins fails with an attempt to clinch.
Callegari was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Wiggins tries to close the distance and clinch but Callegari swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
It looked like Callegari was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Wiggins.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Callegari cracks a nice hook into Wiggins's ribs.
Callegari throws a left and a right that both miss

and Wiggins counters by clinching up.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
A right hand to the body from Callegari.

Wiggins manages to break the clinch.
Wiggins looks to land a combination. Callegari sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
A looping hook to the body misses from Callegari. Wiggins does a little dance to reset his feet.
Callegari throws a body shot but no joy.
Callegari throws a lazy right hand but Wiggins sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Callegari lands a lovely overhand right.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Callegari steps into range and cracks Wiggins with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Wiggins flops backwards and Callegari dives into his guard looking to finish!


Wiggins is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Callegari controlling from the top position.
Wiggins is still in real trouble! Can Callegari finish him?
Callegari pushes down on Wiggins's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Still in half guard, Callegari seems content to control.
Wiggins seems to have recovered his senses.
Wiggins is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Callegari in particular looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raffaele Callegari dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Wiggins misses with a series of wild punches.
Callegari is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wiggins can do to turn this around?
No luck for Wiggins with that takedown attempt.
Callegari is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Wiggins like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Wiggins from another fist facial!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Raffaele Callegari!
A very excited looking Raffaele Callegari made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
