Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Martynov (ranked 322 p4p, 51 weight class) and Junkyard Dog (ranked 236 p4p, 36 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sergei Martynov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Junkyard Dog!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martynov closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Dog's guard.

Dog manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Martynov looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Dog!

Dog throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dog looks to land a left hand but Martynov moved out of range nicely.
An inside leg kick lands from Dog.
Martynov shoots in but Dog avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Martynov closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dog quickly recovers to half guard.
Dog manages to get to full guard.
Martynov trying to control the position from guard on top but Dog is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dog is on top in guard.


Martynov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dog doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dog manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Dog slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Martynov has an active guard here but Dog has managed to pass into half guard.

Dog with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Martynov is refusing to be controlled, as Dog sits in half guard.
Martynov is looking for a sweep. Dog is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Dog not doing much here.

Martynov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dog pulls his head out easily.
Martynov wants to get back to full guard.
Dog is keen to just control but Martynov is a slippery customer.

Martynov looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Martynov is not content to let Dog control the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Martynov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dog as he jumps to the side.
Dog lands with a right hand.

Dog wants to stand but Martynov is controlling the position.
Martynov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dog trying to keep a closed guard but Martynov is proving a slippery customer.
Dog might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Martynov haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martynov trying to control but Dog is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junkyard Dog dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Nice takedown defense from Dog. No joy for Martynov on that attempt.
Martynov takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Martynov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dog sprawls well. Dog wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Martynov gets slowly back to his feet.
Martynov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dog as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergei Martynov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Martynov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A little feinted left hand from Martynov on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Dog swings for the body but Martynov moves out of range.
Martynov tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Dog manages to circle out of the way.
Martynov shoots in but Dog avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dog throws a half hearted mid kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martynov needs to keep his hands up - Dog had a free shot at his head there.
Dog lands a head shot.
Horrible takedown attempt by Martynov or perhaps it was just good defense by Dog, which made it look bad.
Martynov takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Dog lands a jab to the nose.
Junkyard Dog is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dog throws a quick inside leg kick.
Martynov shoots in but Dog avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Martynov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dog wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

and Dog counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A left lands for Dog.
Martynov defending well as Dog loads up on a big left hand.
A jab from Dog misses.
Dog connects with a single shot there.
Martynov shoots in looking for a takedown. Dog tries to sprawl out of it but Martynov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dog manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Martynov keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Dog.
Martynov shoots in for a double leg but Dog sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Dog scores with a push kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dog throws a leg kick which misses Martynov's front leg but catches the back leg as Martynov tries to avoid it.
Dog stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dog wants it to stay on the feet.
Martynov takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Dog throws a front kick aimed at Martynov's knee but Martynov avoids it well.
Martynov is looking to counter the offense by Dog and move into the clinch.

Dog lands a big head kick that sends Martynov tumbling to the mat! Dog takes a step backwards and waves Martynov back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Martynov is rocked!
Dog fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Oh Martynov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Donk. Dog catches Martynov right on the button with a cross.
Dog has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Martynov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dog sprawls well. Dog wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Martynov gets slowly back to his feet.
Dog lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Martynov - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Dog!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Junkyard Dog!
