PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight kickboxing rules bout between Beck Lee (ranked 1650 p4p, 196 weight class) and Ryu Takemura (ranked 7431 p4p, 510 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Beck Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryu Takemura!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee closes the distance looking to clinch
and Takemura counters with a straight right hand.
Takemura slips a jab and a cross from Lee.
Lee swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Takemura counters with a nice uppercut.
Takemura takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Lee is looking to clinch.
Lee has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Lee there as he acknowledges the shot.
A head kick misses from Lee.
Takemura digs a good body shot into Lee's ribs.
Lee darts in trying to clinch
and Takemura connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Takemura works over Lee's head and body with a nice combination.

Takemura connects with a right hand. Lee shakes it off.
Takemura staying out of range there.
Takemura throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lee stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Lee throws a head kick that misses.
A shot to the liver by Takemura. Beautiful body shot.
Takemura avoids the head kick by Lee.
Takemura swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Lee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Takemura was well out of range. Poor timing from Lee.
Takemura scores with a three punch combo!


Lee is rocked!
A right-left combo lands from Takemura.
Oh Lee is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lee darts in trying to clinch
enabling Takemura to counter with a crisp jab.
Takemura bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Takemura lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Takemura is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Lee wants to clinch but Takemura slips to the side
and Takemura counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Lee throws a body shot but no joy.
Takemura throws out a counter right but Lee avoids it with no problem.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lee looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lee doesn't manage to clinch there - Takemura circles away.

Beck Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ryu Takemura showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Lee darts in and clinches Takemura up against the ropes.
Lee looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Takemura avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Ryu Takemura seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Ryu Takemura comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Takemura winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
