Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Cirianni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marvin Wentworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marvin Wentworth!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wentworth is looking to clinch.
Wentworth shoots in looking for a takedown. Cirianni tries to sprawl out of it but Wentworth keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cirianni manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wentworth fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Cirianni tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Wentworth counters with a shoot takedown. Cirianni fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wentworth missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Wentworth throws a strike but Cirianni rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Cirianni knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wentworth on the ground.
Wentworth lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cirianni!
Cirianni is desperately trying to improve his position but Wentworth has a good base and remains in mount.

Wentworth moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Cirianni has worked his arm free - good work by Cirianni!
Wentworth looks up at the clock and then as Cirianni takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Wentworth smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Wentworth tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Wentworth tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Wentworth tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Cirianni is trying to get back to his feet.
You can see the frustration on Cirianni's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cirianni manages to get back to half guard.
Cirianni is trying to stand.
Wentworth drops an elbow to the side of Cirianni's head.
Cirianni blocking the ground and pound attempt from Wentworth.

Cirianni manages to escape and get back to his feet!

and Wentworth counters with a shoot takedown. Cirianni fights it but they end up in guard.

Wentworth thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cirianni's head.
Cirianni slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Wentworth drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cirianni looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cirianni looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cirianni!

Cirianni decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Cirianni tries to clinch there but Wentworth circles away.

Cirianni has Wentworth up against the cage in a clinch.

Cirianni pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wentworth fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Wentworth decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cirianni's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cirianni keeping moving, preventing Wentworth from controlling successfully.
Wentworth throws and elbow that misses. Cirianni uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wentworth's guard. Nice move by Cirianni!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wentworth not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cirianni wanted to stand there but Wentworth had control of the position.

Cirianni drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Wentworth kicks Cirianni off and gets to his feet.
Wentworth misses with a series of wild punches.

and Wentworth counters with a one-two to the body.
Cirianni looks to land a combination. Wentworth sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

It looks like Marvin Wentworth has been cut.
Cirianni tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wentworth paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cirianni lands with a cross.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cirianni lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Cirianni lands a nice forearm strike.
Wentworth is looking for a sweep.
Wentworth wants to control but Cirianni postures up.
Wentworth is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Cirianni is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Cirianni is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Wentworth can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Cirianni is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Wentworth crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Cirianni - the referee stops the clock and Wentworth gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Cirianni. Wentworth manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Cirianni gets to mount! Wentworth was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Wentworth is in all sorts of trouble here.

Cirianni postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wentworth looks a forlorn figure.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wentworth is looking to improve his position but Cirianni isn't that keen on the idea.
The referee warns Wentworth that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Cirianni manages to capitalize on a mistake by Wentworth to take his back!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cirianni has Wentworth flattened out and is raining down punches.
Cirianni is hanging on to Wentworth's back as he tries to escape.

That's time! Cirianni's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Cirianni goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

and Cirianni holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Cirianni is looking to break free of the clinch but Wentworth has double underhooks.
Wentworth has Cirianni pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cirianni manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Wentworth is trying to drag Cirianni to the mat but Cirianni just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Cirianni breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Wentworth gets caught flat footed, as Cirianni shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Wentworth striking off his back but it's not causing Cirianni any problems.
Cirianni stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wentworth swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wentworth working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cirianni doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cirianni manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cirianni wanted to stand there but Wentworth had control of the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Cirianni wants to take a breather but Wentworth is having none of it.
Wentworth is trying to escape back to his feet but Cirianni uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Cirianni is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cirianni cracks Wentworth with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wentworth is trying desperately to improve position.
Cirianni punishing his opponent with strikes.
Wentworth tries to hold on but Cirianni pushes him away.
Cirianni connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Well Cirianni has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
