Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Quanah Parker (ranked 4630 p4p, 0 weight class) and Markuz Pierson (ranked 4740 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Markuz Pierson!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Reed Andrews and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pierson moves into range and clinches up with Parker.
Parker tries to score a body lock takedown but Pierson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Parker really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pierson manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Pierson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Parker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pierson's waist but Pierson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Parker off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quanah Parker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Parker jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Pierson manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Pierson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pierson has his hands clasped together around Parker's back. He's all about the action.
Parker works his way into full mount!

Parker is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Pierson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Pierson shrugs it off.

Parker has hold of Pierson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Pierson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Parker jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Pierson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Pierson and Parker has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Pierson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Parker has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Parker is looking to take a break and control but Pierson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Quanah Parker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Parker lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Pierson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Parker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Parker is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pierson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Parker.

Parker is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Parker wants to control the pace but Pierson is squirming around nicely.

Parker is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pierson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Pierson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Parker is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Pierson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Pierson!

Parker is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Pierson has his hands clasped together but Parker extends and breaks Pierson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Parker.
