Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jewel Diaz (ranked 980 p4p, 122 weight class) and Timo Bader (ranked 2508 p4p, 271 weight class). Diaz's entrance music is Fuego (La Romana). A fine choice. Timo Bader will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jewel Diaz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Timo Bader!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz ducks under a wild hook from Bader.
Bader throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Diaz counters with a shoot takedown. Bader fights it but they end up in guard.

Diaz prevents Bader from getting back to his feet.
Diaz keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bader's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bader has momentary wrist control but Diaz slips an elbow through the middle.

Bader is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Diaz presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Bader escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bader won't be happy with that.

Bader throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bader throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Timo Bader seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bader throws a body punch but Diaz moves out of range.
Diaz circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bader misses with a hook.
Diaz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bader.

Diaz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bader to the mat! Bader manages to get full guard.
Bader is looking to stand up but Diaz isn't so interested in that idea.

Diaz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bader can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bader can't keep his opponent in guard - Diaz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Diaz has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Bader is rocked!
You get the feeling that Bader really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Bader is still in real trouble! Can Diaz finish him?
Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Diaz lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Bader! Diaz sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Bader and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jewel Diaz!
