PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Miller (ranked 1854 p4p, 250 weight class) and Udo Dirkschneider (ranked 3887 p4p, 413 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Udo Dirkschneider!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dirkschneider jabs at Miller's body.
Dirkschneider fails to land with a series of punches.
Miller is looking to counter the offense by Dirkschneider and move into the clinch.

Dirkschneider closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Dirkschneider in side control, throwing shots but Miller defends.
Miller is not content to let Dirkschneider control the position.
Dirkschneider looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Miller is avoiding damage well.
Dirkschneider tries to score with some ground and pound. Miller controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Miller seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Dirkschneider throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Miller was covering up waiting for the punch and Dirkschneider finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Miller lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Miller seems to be working for a kimura but Dirkschneider defends the submission attempt.
Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dirkschneider keeps working.

Miller decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dirkschneider to his feet.

Miller shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dirkschneider manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Dirkschneider has his feet on Miller's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dirkschneider drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dirkschneider really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Miller is on top in guard.


Miller drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dirkschneider manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Miller has Dirkschneider in his guard.

Miller wants to sweep but no luck.

Dirkschneider has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dirkschneider is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Miller has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Dirkschneider is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Miller off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
