PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Caio Bottura (ranked 689 p4p, 86 weight class) and Jesse Point (ranked 485 p4p, 65 weight class). Bottura's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Face The Pain. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Caio Bottura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jesse Point!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bottura throws a body punch but Point moves out of range.
A solid leg kick lands there for Bottura.
Point throws a hook but Bottura blocks it.
Point connects with a leg kick. Bottura looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Point closes the distance and clinches.
Bottura tries to pull guard but Point holds him up against the cage and eventually Bottura drops back down to his feet.
Bottura blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Bottura ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bottura no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Bottura is trying to keep Point in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bottura holds on and takes a little breather.

Point sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bottura's guard.
Point passes into side control, despite Bottura's attempt to control the position.
Bottura seems a little lost for a moment, as Point dominates the positioning.

Bottura has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

The fighters circling - Bottura throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Bottura is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Point is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

It looked like Bottura was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Point.

I would just about give that final round to Jesse Point.
I've got Point winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
