PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Genghis Khan (ranked 2026 p4p, 91 weight class) and Mike McMonster (ranked 2554 p4p, 101 weight class). The key to victory for Genghis Khan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Genghis Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike McMonster!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McMonster closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

McMonster drags the fight down to the ground.

McMonster isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Khan stacks McMonster on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Khan!
McMonster is not content to let Khan control the position.
McMonster tries to get back to half guard but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McMonster sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Khan is taking a breather. McMonster says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
McMonster wants to sweep but Khan has passed to side control!
McMonster is looking for a sweep.
McMonster is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Khan prevents McMonster from improving his position.
Khan controlling the action here.
Khan tries to stand and escape but McMonster is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
McMonster has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Khan is working away from the top position though.

McMonster looking for a kimura from the bottom but Khan passes into side control!
McMonster gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Khan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McMonster tries to get to full guard but Khan has control of the leg.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Khan misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McMonster.
A looping hook to the body misses from McMonster. Khan does a little dance to reset his feet.
McMonster misses with a right hand
and McMonster takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Mike McMonster has been cut.
Khan's jab looks to have found its range, popping McMonster under the eye.
Khan thows a left - swing and a miss!
Khan looks to score with a jab to the body but McMonster is just out of range.
Khan ducks under a wild hook from McMonster.
Khan swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
McMonster fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Danga de danga de dang - McMonster scores with a four punch combination!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Khan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McMonster sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Khan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
McMonster shoots for a double leg takedown but Khan sprawls well. He's pushed McMonster's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Khan throwing a counter right hand but McMonster manages to avoid it.
Khan just misses with a punch to the body.
McMonster tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Khan cracks McMonster with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! McMonster looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Khan finish him?


McMonster is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McMonster displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Khan throws out the jab.
McMonster scores with a jab.
Genghis Khan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McMonster jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Khan drops McMonster with a straight left! Oh this is bad for McMonster! Khan dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Genghis Khan!
Genghis Khan very nearly forgot to thank UnderGround Supplements amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
