PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Henderson (ranked 5120 p4p, 452 weight class) and Arthur Witt (ranked 6944 p4p, 507 weight class). Arthur Witt will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Henderson !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arthur Witt!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Witt tries a head kick but it misses.
Henderson stuffs the takedown attempt from Witt. Witt gets slowly back to his feet.

Witt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Henderson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Henderson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Henderson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Henderson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Witt did well to prevent Henderson getting side control.

Henderson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Witt has worked his arm free - good work by Witt!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Henderson is not content to let Witt control the position.

It looks like Witt is going to stand back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Henderson slaps away a takedown attempt from Witt, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Witt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Henderson 's waist but Henderson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Witt off to one side.
Witt shoots in looking for a takedown but Henderson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Witt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's time! Henderson 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Henderson tries to counter by clinching up but Witt breaks away and moves out of range.

and Witt counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Henderson 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Henderson , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
