Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Moon Jung Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vladimir Emelyanov! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Left hook, right uppercut from Lee.
Emelyanov is rocked!
It looks like Vladimir Emelyanov has been cut. A head kick misses from Lee. Emelyanov is still on wobbly legs! Can Lee finish him? Emelyanov gets a clinch. Emelyanov seems to have recovered his senses. Emelyanov drags the fight down to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Emelyanov working for a triangle but Lee defends it easily.
Emelyanov pulls Lee in close to prevent any damage. Lee wants to get up but he can't break Emelyanov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Emelyanov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lee is one step ahead there. Emelyanov working for a triangle but Lee defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee wants to get up but he can't break Emelyanov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Emelyanov looking to control.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Emelyanov closes the distance and pushes Lee back into the cage. Lee wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lee is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Lee is trying to force a seperation but Emelyanov has the dominant position. The referee calls for Emelyanov to work.
Emelyanov is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lee is defending well. Emelyanov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lee pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lee lands a big head kick that sends Emelyanov tumbling to the mat! Lee takes a step backwards and waves Emelyanov back to his feet - he wants the finish! Lee misses with a head kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lee gets tackled into the cage by Emelyanov. Emelyanov maintains the clinch. Emelyanov controlling the action here for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Emelyanov jumps guard but Lee stands there with Emelyanov around his waist. Emelyanov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Emelyanov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Lee throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Emelyanov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Emelyanov drops his hands momentarily and Lee needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Emelyanov just on the top of the head. Emelyanov drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Emelyanov - he's done!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Moon Jung Lee! An out of breath Moon Jung Lee thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
