PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Abunazir Kindzal (ranked 4080 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Gun (ranked 4921 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abunazir Kindzal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Gun!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Ron Honeybunn and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gun gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kindzal breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kindzal is defended easily by Gun.

Gun decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kindzal trying to control from the bottom.
Gun controlling the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kindzal wants to control but Gun is keeping busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gun stands up out of the half guard.

Gun throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kindzal was covering up waiting for the punch and Gun finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gun seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kindzal has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gun can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gun is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Kindzal can't keep his opponent in guard - Gun advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Kindzal won't allow Gun to pass to mount.

Gun wants to advance to full mount but Kindzal doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Kindzal is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gun pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kindzal is keeping the position for now.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Gun stays in close to Kindzal's body and controls the position.

Gun shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kindzal as he avoids it easily.
Kindzal has a takedown stuffed.
Despite the aggression on Gun's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kindzal.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abunazir Kindzal. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kindzal misses with a hook to the body
and Gun counters with a three punch combo that has Kindzal backing up. Kindzal nods at Gun to acknowledge the strikes.
Kindzal shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gun as he avoids it easily.
Gun drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kindzal defends it well.
Gun circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Gun dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Gun's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kindzal under the eye.

Gun scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Kindzal explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Gun has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gun.
Kindzal shoots in looking for a takedown but Gun manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kindzal's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gun stuffs the takedown attempt from Kindzal. Kindzal gets slowly back to his feet.
Gun drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kindzal defends it well.
Gun looks for a takedown but Kindzal sprawls well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gun swats away the attempt to clinch by Kindzal.
Gun swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

The fight stays on the outside here - Gun looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kindzal changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Gun wants to clinch up but Kindzal keeps it at a distance.
Kindzal misses with a takedown

and Gun moves into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abunazir Kindzal. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gun turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Kindzal bucks up and tries to throw Gun off but instead Gun has got his back!
Gun is landing with strikes from the back.

Gun has his arm under Kindzal's chin here. Game over son! Gun squeezes tightly and Kindzal is forced to tap out!
