Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gerhard Franke!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franke connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Uno tries to close the distance and clinch but Franke swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Franke rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Uno moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Franke swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Franke scores with a jab to the head.
Franke connects with a jab.
Franke swings for the body but Uno moves out of range.
Franke throws a hook to the side of Uno's head but Uno sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Franke throws a series of strikes that have Uno backpedaling.
Uno has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Uno there as he acknowledges the shot.

Uno is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Franke just misses with a punch to the body.

Franke scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Uno tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Franke wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Franke working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
What's Uno going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Uno stops Franke from passing to mount.

Uno seems a little lost for a moment, as Franke dominates the positioning.
You can see the frustration on Uno's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Uno tries to bench press Franke off him but Franke keeps the position.
Uno gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Franke wants to lay and pray for a moment but Uno keeps working.
Franke working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Uno's thigh. Uno counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Franke tries to free his leg and advance position but Uno is retaining full guard.
Franke wants to control from the top but Uno keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Franke won't allow Uno to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Uno tries to close the distance and clinch up but Franke swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Uno uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Franke.
Uno fails with the takedown

and Franke counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Franke is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Uno pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Franke wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Uno can't get the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Franke works the jab nicely.

and Franke counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Uno showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Franke.

Franke pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Uno tries to clinch up
and Uno takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Franke scores with a shot to the body.
Franke thows a body shot but no joy.

Franke lands a nice hook to Uno's body. Uno takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Franke lands a slapping body shot.
Awol Uno is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Left hook, right uppercut from Franke.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Franke connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Franke lands with a right hand.
Franke scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Franke misses with a jab, cross combination.
Franke slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Uno keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Franke lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Uno circles away quickly and effectively.

Franke closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Uno to the mat! Uno manages to get full guard.
Uno keeping moving, preventing Franke from controlling successfully.
Uno is pulling down on Franke's head. It's preventing any offense from Franke, at least for the moment.
Franke lands a couple of elbows.

Franke has gone for a leg lock! Uno slips out almost immediately though and dives into Franke's guard.
Franke tries to strike from the bottom.

Franke wants to sweep but no luck.

Franke looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Uno trying to control the position from guard on top but Franke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Franke throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Franke looking for a sweep. Not yet Franke, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gerhard Franke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


A combination from Franke does no damage.
Gerhard Franke seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Franke circles away from the clinch attempt
and Franke counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Uno tries for a takedown but Franke circles away easily
and Franke counters with a lovely straight right hand!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Franke wants to break the clinch but can't.

Franke goes for a takedown attempt but Uno pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Franke misses with a wild body shot.
Franke uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Uno has time to react.
Uno closes the distance but Franke moves to the side

and Franke counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Franke trying to advance position but Uno counters by regaining guard.
Uno wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Uno keeping full guard, as Franke tries to pass.
Franke slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Uno is trying to keep Franke in close.

Uno has his hands on Franke's head, controlling the position.
Franke throws a strike but Uno rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Franke is looking for a triangle but Uno pushes his legs off easily.
Uno trying to control but Franke is working from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Franke has his foot on Uno's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Uno works his way back into a safe position though.

Gerhard Franke is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Gerhard Franke comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Franke has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
