Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kron Gracie (ranked 1552 p4p, 165 weight class) and DeShawn West (ranked 487 p4p, 56 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kron Gracie!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, DeShawn West!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West misses the shot to the body.
Gracie looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
West dips to his left and cracks Gracie with an uppercut!
West misses with a hook.
Gracie looks to score with a jab to the body but West is just out of range.
Gracie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
West lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
West misses with a low kick as Gracie jumps back.
West slips under a jab from Gracie.
Gracie dives in for a single leg takedown but West sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

West lands a nice shot that snaps Gracie's head back.
West throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
West throws a body shot but no joy.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A nice side step and West releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. West tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. West manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kron Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

West bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gracie's head backwards.

and West counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Gracie throws a right hand that misses
and West counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
West scores with the left hand. Gracie knows he should have avoided that one.
West scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gracie doesn't seem bothered though.
West bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Gracie's head.

West misses with a straight left.
West tests Gracie's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling West to counter with a crisp jab.

and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown. West fights it but they end up in guard.

West has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Fury MMA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
West works his way to full guard. Good work.

West has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Gracie appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
DeShawn West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A momentary lapse in concentration from West enables Gracie to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. West manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

West seems keen to control Gracie's posture.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! West looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. West looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from West!

West remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
West has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

West seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gracie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gracie manages to get to full guard.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. West gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
West slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and West defends well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Gracie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

DeShawn West showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

West looks to land a combination but Gracie avoids it well.
West stuns Gracie with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
A nice inside leg kick there by West. That's going to slow Gracie down.
Gracie takes a swing at West's ribcage but misses.
West was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with West, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes West against the cage but West circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
West throws out a counter right but Gracie avoids it with no problem.

Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has West pinned against the cage. West gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
West throws an overhand right that lands on Gracie's shoulder, as Gracie tries to avoid the shot.

West jabs Gracie to the body, keeping him at a distance.
West throws a series of punches but Gracie avoids them all with ease.
Gracie fails with a takedown attempt.
West let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

West can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gracie controls the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.

West has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Gracie has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
West tries to throw a body punch but Gracie avoids it by throwing West back against the cage.

West throws a left and a right that both miss

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into side control. West won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gracie tries to advance to mount but West denies him.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but West keeps working.

Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but West is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gracie is trying to move to mount but West reverses beautifully and ends up in Gracie's guard.

Gracie throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! West escapes and throws Gracie's legs to the side, diving into side control!

West tries to advance to mount but Gracie denies him.
West controls the position from side control.
Kron Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
West wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
West tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Gracie is trying to get back to half guard.
Gracie can't do much from the bottom here.
West controlling the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

DeShawn West dominated that fourth round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!



West gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gracie wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but West is retaining full guard.

West is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but West is retaining full guard.
West is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

West is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gracie changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
West stuns Gracie with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

West lands a head shot.

West uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gracie.
West now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Kron Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
West scores with a sloppy right hand. Gracie should have avoided that one.

DeShawn West comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got West winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
