Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Whorely Alvarez (ranked 3107 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Bundy (ranked 2344 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Whorely Alvarez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Greg Bundy! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bundy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Alvarez. Alvarez wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Bundy takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Bundy misses with a double jab
and Alvarez counters with a nice body kick. Alvarez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alvarez takes a swing at Bundy's ribcage but misses. Some wild striking there from Bundy.
Bundy looks to throw the jab but Alvarez is out of range. Bundy avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Bundy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. As Bundy backs away, Alvarez returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A solid leg kick lands there for Alvarez.
Alvarez thuds a left hand into Bundy's body. A swing and a miss from Bundy. Alvarez closes the distance and lands a one-two. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bundy takes a shot to the body in his stride.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice cross by Alvarez. Alvarez tries to bum rush Bundy with a series of wild strikes but Bundy uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Decent striking displayed by Bundy there. Whorely Alvarez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bundy connects with the punch. Bundy misses the shot to the body. Greg Bundy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bundy takes a kick to the side of the head. Bundy looks to land a left hand but Alvarez moved out of range nicely. Bundy wants to clinch up but Alvarez keeps it at a distance. Bundy sends Alvarez crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Bundy is motioning to the referee to let Alvarez up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Alvarez is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bundy finds Alvarez's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Alvarez flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Bundy lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Alvarez will be OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Greg Bundy! Our winner, Greg Bundy, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
