The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy body kick from Escobar

so Rodgers counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Escobar preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Escobar is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Rodgers trying to control the position from guard on top but Escobar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rodgers prevents Escobar from getting back to his feet.

Escobar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rodgers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rodgers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rodgers has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Escobar defend it? Rodgers steps over the head and cranks it - Escobar is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Rodgers !
