Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cole Ison (ranked 2043 p4p, 236 weight class) and Krisko Kurtev (ranked 4095 p4p, 410 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cole Ison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Krisko Kurtev! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kurtev walks into a left hand. No luck for Kurtev with that takedown attempt. Kurtev with a poor takedown enabling Ison to counter with a crisp jab. Kurtev walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Kurtev with a lazy takedown attempt enabling Ison to counter with a crisp jab. Cole Ison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Krisko Kurtev. A low kick from Ison is predictable there and Kurtev counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kurtev's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Kurtev lands a couple of decent looking shots. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ison keeping moving, preventing Kurtev from controlling successfully. Ison has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Kurtev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Ison working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kurtev. Ison looking for a guillotine here but Kurtev defends easily.
Ison looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kurtev is one step ahead there. Ison is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kurtev defends well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kurtev postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Kurtev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Kurtev is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kurtev is in close to Ison's body, working some short punches and elbows. Ison looking for a guillotine here but Kurtev defends easily.
Kurtev is working Ison over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Kurtev scoring with some ground and pound. Kurtev trying to control the position from guard on top but Ison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kurtev lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ison has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kurtev can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Ison looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kurtev postures up and lands a big shot to Ison's brow. Kurtev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Ison can't keep his opponent in guard - Kurtev advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Kurtev lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Kurtev wants to work for an arm triangle but Ison is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kurtev working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Ison is rocked! Ison trying to control but Kurtev postures up.
Kurtev wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ison keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kurtev looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Oh Ison is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ison trying to control from the bottom.
Ison seems to have got his legs back now. Kurtev unloads with some huge strikes here! Ison is out! Kurtev wins by brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Krisko Kurtev! A very excited looking Krisko Kurtev made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
