Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Doug Lake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Zion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lake comes to the cage accompanied by My life be like oo-ah. Zion has chosen Lars Frederiksen & The Bastards - 1% as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Doug Lake! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Zion! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Lake. A lazy left from Lake finds it's target.
It looks like Bob Zion has been cut. Lake tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zion was well out of range. Poor timing from Lake. A telegraphed right hand from Zion misses the target. Lake tries to work over Zion's front leg with a kick but Zion checks it. Lake pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lake looks to score with a jab to the body but Zion is just out of range. Lake tries to land a leg kick but Zion saw it coming and moves away.
Lake turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Lake, right into the meat.

Lake throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Zion takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Lake lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
An inside leg kick lands from Lake. Lake tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Doug Lake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lake jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Lake is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Zion not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Zion with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Zion wants to control from the top but Lake keeps moving.

Zion is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Lake is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Zion working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Zion trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Zion pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lake is keeping the position for now.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Zion misses with the combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lake connects with a right hand. Zion shakes it off. Good leg kick by Lake there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Doug Lake is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Zion walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Zion wants to clinch. Lake gets caught flat footed, as Zion shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Lake utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Zion trying to control the position from guard on top but Lake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Zion looking to sit in guard and control but Lake gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lake controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Zion misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Zion takes a little break here. Lake wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Lake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Lake can't do much from the bottom here.

Lake is trying to control Zion's posture but Zion avoids it. Zion moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Lake struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Lake's face as Zion controls the position. Zion has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Zion takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Zion tries to clinch but Lake moves out of range. Zion drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Zion pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lake is keeping the position for now. Zion missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Zion drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lake manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Zion has Lake in his guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Zion holds on and takes a little breather. Zion trying to keep a closed guard but Lake is proving a slippery customer.

Zion decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Zion wants to pass to mount but Lake is defending the position. Zion is nestled in close to Lake, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Zion is looking to stall here but Lake recovers full guard. Lake pulls Zion in close to prevent any damage. Zion controlling from the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Zion wants to control from the top but Lake keeps moving. Lake controlling the position. Bob Zion has got the better of the ground game so far. Lake is trying to control the position but Zion postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zion is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Zion trying to control but Lake is working from the bottom.
Despite being in the dominant position, Bob Zion just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A head kick misses from Lake. Zion clinches. Lake tries to land a knee to the head but Zion blocks with his arms.
