Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Azar Qasi (ranked 1552 p4p, 193 weight class) and Feihck Tiote (ranked 1738 p4p, 211 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Qasi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to For Whom The Bell Tolls. Feihck Tiote is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 7 losses; Azar Qasi! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 4 losses; Feihck Tiote! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Qasi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tiote quickly recovers to half guard. Tiote looking to sit in guard and control but Qasi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Qasi (7) vs (2) Tiote Qasi controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Qasi trying to control the position from guard on top but Tiote is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tiote throws his legs up looking for a submission but Qasi uses it to pass to side control.
Score +3 for passing guard: Qasi (10) vs (2) Tiote Tiote is not content to let Qasi control the position. Qasi in side control, just content to control the action for now. Qasi seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tiote for as long as he can get away with.

Tiote looking for the choke from the back. Qasi rolls, trying to escape but Tiote keeps control of the position.
Qasi breaks Tiote's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Qasi trying to control but Tiote is working from the bottom. Qasi wants to pass the guard but Tiote is keeping the position. Tiote has his foot on Qasi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Qasi works his way back into a safe position though. Qasi tries to free his leg and advance position but Tiote is retaining full guard. Tiote is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Qasi defends well. Tiote has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Qasi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Tiote is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Qasi (12) vs (8) Tiote Qasi tries to get to full guard but Tiote has control of the leg. Tiote frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Qasi (12) vs (11) Tiote Tiote jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Qasi is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Qasi and Tiote has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
My spies in Big Bear Fight Factory inform me that Tiote has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Qasi is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Tiote's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Tiote! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Qasi has tapped! This one is allllll over!
