Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jacques Chaize! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jose Carvaleho! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chaize misses with a hook. Carvaleho ducked under it nicely. Chaize circles away from the clinch attempt and Chaize counters with a straight right hand. A lazy left from Chaize finds it's target. Carvaleho takes one on the button. Chaize moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
It looks like Jose Carvaleho has been cut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A jab from Chaize does it's job there. Chaize jabbing away but nothing is landing. Carvaleho drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Chaize defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carvaleho misses with a takedown attempt and Chaize counters with a nice uppercut. Carvaleho throws a right hand that misses
and Chaize cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Carvaleho misses with a left hand and Chaize counters with a lovely straight right hand! Carvaleho misses with a left hand enabling Chaize to counter with a crisp jab. Carvaleho throws a lazy uppercut
and Chaize counters with a nice uppercut. Carvaleho takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Chaize counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Carvaleho shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Carvaleho wants to control from the top but Chaize keeps moving. My spies in Buoy Training inform me that Carvaleho has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Carvaleho stands and throws Chaize's legs to the side, diving into side control. Carvaleho has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Chaize is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Carvaleho yanks on the arm and Chaize is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Carvaleho.
