PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Scott Columbus (ranked 16244 p4p, 202 weight class) and Sanngriğr Koningh (ranked 6264 p4p, 127 weight class). Columbus comes to the ring accompanied by Blood Of The Kings. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 27 - 1, fighting out of London, Scott Columbus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sanngriğr Koningh!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Columbus misses with a jab, cross combination.
It seemed like Koningh was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Koningh throws a leg kick which misses Columbus's front leg but catches the back leg as Columbus tries to avoid it.
Columbus throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Columbus uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Koningh.
Columbus takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Columbus takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Koningh checks the leg kick nicely there.
Koningh looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Columbus misses with a jab, cross combination.
Columbus throws a hook to the side of Koningh's head but Koningh sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Columbus lands a leg kick that knocks Koningh off balance momentarily.
Columbus looks to throw the jab but Koningh is out of range.
A little jabbing left from Koningh on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Columbus swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Koningh lands a jab to the nose.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Koningh checks a leg kick.
Koningh lands a head shot.
Koningh lands the left hand.


It looks like Scott Columbus has been cut.
Koningh takes a shot right to the bread basket.
A slapping body kick lands there for Koningh.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Koningh moves away from the strike by Columbus.
Koningh ducks under a wild hook from Columbus.
The crowd cheers as Koningh lands an impressive looking overhand right. Columbus doesn't seem phased though.
Columbus throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Koningh counters with a stiff right hand.
Columbus throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Sloppy strikes from Columbus. Those never looked like landing.

Koningh works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Koningh loads up on a big right hand but Columbus slips the punch.

Koningh throws out a head kick that Columbus doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Columbus crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Columbus's eyes and has decided to let it go on!
Scott Columbus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koningh lands with a right hand.
Koningh displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Columbus throws out the jab.

Koningh does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Koningh throws the left hand but Columbus avoids the punch easily.

Columbus fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Koningh is out of range.
Columbus lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Nice jab there from Koningh.
Koningh avoids the body shot from Columbus.
A telegraphed right hand from Columbus misses the target.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Koningh! But no joy.
Koningh steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Columbus.
Koningh moves out of range of the body kick from Columbus.
Koningh smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Koningh lands a jab to the head.
Koningh takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Columbus throws an overhand right that lands on Koningh's shoulder, as Koningh tries to avoid the shot.
Columbus misses with a two punch combination.
Koningh looks like he wants to counter punch here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Having scored a knockdown, Sanngriğr Koningh should take round 1, putting pressure on his opponene back strong in round 2.
The cut man is working on Scott Columbus's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sanngriğr Koningh seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Columbus throws a looping overhand right but Koningh ducks down to avoid it.
Columbus looks to score with a jab to the body but Koningh is just out of range.

Columbus throws a jab but it's blocked by Koningh.
Columbus punishes Koningh's body with a nice straight punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Columbus fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Koningh looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Columbus jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Koningh lands a head kick that bluckles Columbus and drops him to the canvas. He's still conscious but it looks like it's going to take him the full 10 seconds to get back his senses! He's up on 9 and seems to be just about OK to continue.... the referee agrees and we're back to the action with Koningh no doubt looking to push for a finish!

Koningh lands a front kick to the face, that drops Columbus to the canvas! Is he dazed or just shocked? He's back to his feet and the referee is going to allow him to continue the fight!

Sanngriğr Koningh will take that one after putting his opponent down more than once in the round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Koningh is rocked!
Koningh drops his guard momentarily, allowing Columbus to crack him with a picture perfect lead left hook! Boom! Down goes Koningh! Oh, he's in big trouble - I don't like his chances here as the referee's count reaches 5. 6,7,8,9...10! He's out! Columbus takes it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Scott Columbus!
