Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nicky Spite (ranked 2926 p4p, 345 weight class) and Luke Holt (ranked 6289 p4p, 532 weight class). Holt has chosen Shotta flow as his entrance music. Nicky Spite is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nicky Spite!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luke Holt!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spite throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Spite scores with a shot to the body.
Spite throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Holt fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Spite pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Spite ducks under a wild hook from Holt.
Spite throws a right and a left that both miss.
Holt misses with a straight left.
Spite takes a swing at Holt's ribcage but misses.
Some wild striking there from Spite.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holt shoots in and drives through. Spite sprawls well.

Spite tries to keep at a distance but Holt has taken the fight into the clinch.
Holt keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Spite's efforts to push away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Spite working hard to break the clinch.
Holt lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Holt's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Spite tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Holt smiles and moves away.
A thudding body kick lands there by Spite!

Holt closes the distance and clinches.

Holt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Spite misses the shot to the body.
We've been hearing reports that Spite has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Holt has managed to clinch.

Holt jumps guard.

Spite is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Holt keeping moving, preventing Spite from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Spite won't allow Holt to sweep him here.
Spite works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Spite trying to control from Holt's half guard. Holt has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Spite with a flurry of punches that miss.
Spite wants to control from the top but Holt keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spite wants to pass the guard but Holt is keeping the position.
Spite engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Holt is trying to control the position but Spite postures up.
Holt wants to sweep but no luck.
Spite postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Spite is looking to work some ground and pound but Holt has wrist control.
Spite is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Spite thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Spite has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Holt keeping moving, preventing Spite from controlling successfully.
Spite throws a big elbow that misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Holt wants to get back to his feet but Spite is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Holt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nicky Spite has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Holt.
Good shot there by Spite.
Spite uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Holt.
Spite was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Spite slaps away a takedown attempt from Holt, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Spite plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Holt takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Holt avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicky Spite dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Holt moves into the clinch.
Holt prevents a body shot from Spite.
Holt stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Spite tries to break free but Holt pushes him back against the cage.
Spite wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Holt ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Holt no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Spite is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Holt can do to turn this around?
Spite stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holt swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Spite looking to sit in guard and control but Holt gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Spite escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Holt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Holt wants to control from the top but Spite keeps moving.
Spite trying to control the position.

Spite throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Holt throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Spite works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Spite is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Holt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Holt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spite. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Holt is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Spite has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Holt is looking to defend but Spite has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Holt! Spite pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Holt taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Nicky Spite!
