Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bo Nickal (ranked 360 p4p, 55 weight class) and Cameron Mathews (ranked 1027 p4p, 140 weight class). Mathews has chosen Way Down We Go as his entrance music. Cameron Mathews has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Bo Nickal's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bo Nickal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cameron Mathews! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nickal throws a jab when Mathews was well out of range. Mathews tries to land a front kick but Nickal steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Mathews closes the distance and pushes Nickal back into the cage. Nickal manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
A shot in the inside from Nickal. Nickal fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Nickal wants the takedown. Mathews is fighting it off but Nickal persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Mathews's guard against the cage. Nickal missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Mathews is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Nickal changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mathews fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mathews will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nickal feinted with a counter takedown. Nickal misses with a wild body shot. Nickal looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

and Nickal counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mathews won't be happy with that. Nickal works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Nickal scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mathews to see if he's OK. Nickal trying to control the position but Mathews is working away. Nickal is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mathews knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Mathews bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! This has been an exciting period of action! Nickal closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nickal lands in his opponent's guard. Mathews is looking to stand back up but Nickal counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Mathews. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mathews really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nickal. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mathews tries to kick Nickal off but Nickal keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Nickal is looking to take a break and control but Mathews is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Nickal has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nickal connects with a nice short shot to Mathews's temple. Mathews is looking to escape. Nickal works his way into full mount! Mathews is in a horrible position here. Nickal smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nickal putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Nickal landing punches. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Nickal cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Mathews is rocked! Nickal with the ground and pound from mount. Mathews is still in real trouble! Can Nickal finish him? Mathews is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Mathews takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Nickal's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
