Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rasheed Al Malik (ranked 25125 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arturo Gallo (ranked 3922 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rasheed Al Malik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Arturo Gallo!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Lou da Vinci and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al Malik closes the distance and clinches up with Gallo, looking for a takedown. Al Malik pushes Gallo against the cage but Gallo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gallo throws a sloppy head kick and Al Malik moves out of range easily.
Gallo fails to land the takedown.
Gallo throws a solid leg kick but Al Malik takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Gallo.
Al Malik wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Al Malik tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gallo swivels and escapes.
Gallo takes a swing at Al Malik's ribcage but misses.
Gallo throws a head kick that misses.
Al Malik throws the kick towards the body but Gallo avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Rasheed Al Malik has been cut.
Al Malik tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gallo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Gallo jumps guard and drags Al Malik to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Al Malik tries to free his leg and advance position but Gallo is retaining full guard.
Gallo is pulling down on Al Malik's head. It's preventing any offense from Al Malik, at least for the moment.
Gallo wants to sweep here but Al Malik controlling him for the moment.

Al Malik gets to his feet - Gallo follows without any prompting.
Gallo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Al Malik defends well and Gallo ends up having to push Al Malik into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
As Gallo looks to move away, Al Malik throws a big counter combo but Gallo just gets out of the way.

Al Malik shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gallo as he avoids it easily.
Al Malik tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gallo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Al Malik somewhat.
Gallo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gallo wants it to stay on the feet.
Gallo let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Gallo lands a hook that snaps the head of Al Malik backwards.
Al Malik wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

That's time! Al Malik's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Gallo fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Al Malik is out of range.
Al Malik throws a quick counter head kick but Gallo was just out of range.
No joy there for Gallo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Gallo tries to bum rush Al Malik with a series of wild strikes but Al Malik uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Al Malik changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gallo tries to avoid it but Al Malik manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gallo to the ground. Gallo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Gallo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gallo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Al Malik gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Al Malik sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gallo's guard.

Al Malik decides to stand up.

Gallo moves into range and clinches up with Al Malik.

Gallo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Al Malik is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Gallo is defending well though. Al Malik let's go of the attempt for now.
