Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Leal!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a half hearted mid kick.
Leal stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Leal wants it to stay on the feet.
Leal walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Smith darts in looking for a takedown but Leal gets double underhooks and turns Smith into the cage.
Leal throws a counter combo.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
As Smith backs off Leal throws a huge counter combo but Smith manages to avoid it all.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Leal counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Smith off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Leal follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Smith was out before he hit the floor.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Nathan Leal!
A very excited looking Nathan Leal made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
