PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leroy Jinx (ranked 4779 p4p, 464 weight class) and Utku Akturk (ranked 4597 p4p, 456 weight class). Jinx kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bad Company - FFDP. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jinx pushes Akturk up against the cage in a clinch.
Akturk wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Jinx tries to land knees in the clinch but Akturk avoids the damage to the body.
Jinx has Akturk pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Akturk manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Jinx breaks the clinch.
Akturk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nice takedown defense from Akturk. No joy for Jinx on that attempt.
Jinx misses with a takedown
and Akturk counters with a right hand to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akturk takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Akturk throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Akturk manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jinx on his heels. He'll look to pass Jinx's guard now, I'm sure.

Jinx has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Akturk is working away from the top position though.

Akturk stands up and beckons Jinx to join him on the feet.

and Akturk counters with a nice uppercut.

It looks like Leroy Jinx has been cut.

Jinx leaves Akturk with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Akturk takes a swing at Jinx's ribcage but misses.
Sloppy strikes from Akturk. Those never looked like landing.
The crowd cheers as Akturk lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jinx doesn't seem phased though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jinx looks for a takedown but Akturk sprawls well.

Jinx shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Akturk but Akturk pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Akturk darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jinx tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Akturk manages to move to mount!
Jinx is breathing heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jinx is trying desperately to improve position.

Jinx tries to hold on but Akturk postures up.
Akturk lands a big elbow.
Akturk lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jinx hang on?

Akturk has control of Jinx's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jinx regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Akturk working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Jinx turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Akturk off and cradles Jinx's limp body as Akturk celebrates with his corner.
