Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ovidio Kiran (ranked 402 p4p, 62 weight class) and Jonathan Boaler (ranked 1189 p4p, 164 weight class). Jonathan Boaler is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ovidio Kiran!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jonathan Boaler!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Boaler is defended easily by Kiran.
Boaler fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kiran connects with a single shot there.
Boaler dives in and grabs Kiran's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kiran pushes down on Boaler's head and hops out.
Boaler tries a head kick but it misses.
Boaler shoots for a takedown but Kiran saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Boaler looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Ovidio Kiran has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Boaler.
Kiran lands a right hook to the body.
Kiran throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Boaler stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Boaler throws a sloppy head kick and Kiran moves out of range easily.
Boaler shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kiran sprawls well. Kiran wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Boaler gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kiran clinches.
Boaler is trying to pull guard but Kiran turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Boaler jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kiran walks away with a smile on his face. Boaler gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Boaler swings for the body but Kiran moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kiran fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Boaler takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Kiran stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kiran wants it to stay on the feet.
Kiran punishes Boaler's body with a nice straight punch.
Boaler looks winded!

Kiran closes the distance and clinches.
Boaler jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kiran walks away with a smile on his face. Boaler gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kiran pounces like a tiger and cracks Boaler with a vicious hook! Boaler is down but not out! Kiran follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ovidio Kiran!
Ovidio Kiran retains his light heavyweight title!
After winning the bout, Ovidio Kiran thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
