CACC 48 PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Ze Jiurgite (ranked 24370 p4p, 137 weight class) and Rikiya Goromaru (ranked 5460 p4p, 114 weight class). Jiurgite comes to the ring accompanied by Bezerra - O Malandro Era Forte. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 0 losses; Ze Jiurgite! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Rikiya Goromaru! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Jiurgite drives through and clinches with Goromaru against the ropes.
Goromaru jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jiurgite walks away with a smile on his face. Goromaru gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Ze Jiurgite seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jiurgite instigates a clinch. Jiurgite wants the takedown. Goromaru is fighting it off but Jiurgite persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Goromaru's guard against the ropes. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Jiurgite (2) vs (0) Goromaru Jiurgite wants to pass the guard but Goromaru is keeping the position. Jiurgite wants to control from the top but Goromaru keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jiurgite looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goromaru working a defensive guard but Jiurgite manages to pass into side control anyway.
Score +3 for passing guard: Jiurgite (5) vs (0) Goromaru The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Jiurgite moves into full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Jiurgite (7) vs (0) Goromaru Jiurgite avoids the attempt from Goromaru to control. Jiurgite looking to control but Goromaru is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Goromaru is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Jiurgite has taken his back.
Score +3 for taking back: Jiurgite (10) vs (0) Goromaru Will Jiurgite go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Goromaru defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Jiurgite's arms. Jiurgite seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Jiurgite working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Goromaru looking very determined here, making life difficult for Jiurgite.
I really don't envy Goromaru right now.
Goromaru trying to control the hands but Jiurgite won't let him. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Jiurgite struggling to keep hold of the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jiurgite has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Goromaru has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Jiurgite is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Goromaru has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Jiurgite has good solid back control here.
That's five minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Goromaru prevents Jiurgite from getting a body triangle. Jiurgite is looking for the choke from the back position but Goromaru is controlling his hands well. Goromaru is keeping busy.
Jiurgite has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Goromaru's body.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Goromaru is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Goromaru manages to reverse the position and now he's in Jiurgite's guard. Nice work there by Goromaru.

That's seven minutes gone in the round. Goromaru trying to control the position from guard on top but Jiurgite is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jiurgite looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Goromaru puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Goromaru stalling. Goromaru tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jiurgite knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Jiurgite gets full guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Jiurgite wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Jiurgite has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Jiurgite controls Goromaru momentarily but Goromaru frees himself.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Goromaru looking to pass the guard. Goromaru wants to control from the top but Jiurgite keeps moving. Jiurgite trying to control the position.

That's ten minutes gone in the round. Jiurgite pulls Goromaru in close to prevent any damage. Jiurgite looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jiurgite will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Jiurgite lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Jiurgite (12) vs (2) Goromaru Goromaru is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Goromaru throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Jiurgite pushes down on Goromaru's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Goromaru is not content to let Jiurgite control the position. Goromaru wants to improve his position but Jiurgite is controlling well.
Goromaru has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jiurgite is working away from the top position though. Jiurgite trying to advance position but Goromaru counters by regaining guard.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Jiurgite tries to free his leg and advance position but Goromaru is retaining full guard. Goromaru keeping moving, preventing Jiurgite from controlling successfully. Goromaru not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Goromaru controlling the position. Jiurgite got a little sloppy there for a moment and Goromaru has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jiurgite has managed to get both his arms back between Goromaru's legs - danger averted. Goromaru trying to keep a closed guard but Jiurgite is proving a slippery customer.
Jiurgite trying to control but Goromaru is working from the bottom. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jiurgite passes Goromaru's left leg - he's now in half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Jiurgite takes the fight on points by 12 to 2. Post fight, Ze Jiurgite took to the microphone: 'Thank you, Joe! You know, I come from a very poor community in Brazil, I have 3 other jobs. My 5 kids grew without food at the table. Now, with fighting, they can go school and be healthy. This means a lot to me'. |
