The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilchrist avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Pettis throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gilchrist counters with a takedown into side control.
Pettis is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Gilchrist has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Gilchrist has hold of Pettis's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Pettis tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Gilchrist cranks the arm and Pettis screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Pettis, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Sonny Gilchrist!
Sonny Gilchrist really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Notorious logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
