PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tank Ispa (ranked 27 p4p, 4 weight class) and George Peterson (ranked 131 p4p, 21 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Tank Ispa!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Peterson!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Ispa lands an impressive looking overhand right. Peterson doesn't seem phased though.
Peterson throws a hook but Ispa avoids it easily.
Peterson misses with a straight right.
Peterson throws a right hand that misses
and Ispa counters with a nice kick to the body.
Ispa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ispa has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Ispa uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Peterson.
Ispa looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Peterson clinches up with Ispa and pushes him back against the cage.
A shot in the inside from Peterson.
Peterson avoids the elbow strike from Ispa, against the cage.
Ispa managing to block the knees to the body from Peterson.

Peterson breaks from the clinch.
Good leg kick by Ispa there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Peterson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
The fight stays on the outside here - Peterson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ispa ducks under a wild hook from Peterson.
Peterson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Ispa in his tracks.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Peterson throws a shot from downtown. Ispa moves away and avoids it.
A decent looking cross lands there for Ispa.
George Peterson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ispa throws a body punch but Peterson moves out of range.
Nice defenses there by Ispa.
Ispa slips under a jab from Peterson.
Peterson misses with a lunging right hand

and Ispa counters with a nice double leg into side control. Peterson won't be happy with that.

Ispa is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Peterson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ispa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Peterson keeps working.
Peterson can't do much from the bottom here.
Ispa content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Ispa swings around for an armbar but Peterson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ispa's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ispa can't keep his opponent in guard - Peterson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ispa wants to control but Peterson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ispa wants to sweep but Peterson has passed to side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ispa struggling a bit here.

Peterson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
A cross from Peterson lands.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Peterson closes the distance looking to clinch
and Ispa counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Peterson drives through and clinches with Ispa against the cage.
A short left from Ispa.
Peterson lands with a light punch inside.
Peterson lands an elbow that stopped Ispa in his tracks for a moment.
A short left from Ispa.
Ispa blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Ispa tries a body shot but Peterson blocks it.
A head punch on the inside from Ispa fails to land.
Peterson stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Peterson looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
A short uppercut from Peterson.
Peterson trying to land knees to the body.

Ispa manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Peterson has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Ispa to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Peterson is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Ispa pulls down on the head and he's put Peterson to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Tank Ispa!
Tank Ispa retains his light heavyweight title!
Tank Ispa seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
