PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Emelyanov (ranked 3431 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chengiz Yilmaz (ranked 4633 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chengiz Yilmaz!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelyanov tries a head kick but it misses.

Yilmaz wants to get up but he can't break Emelyanov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Emelyanov is defended easily by Yilmaz.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Yilmaz swings for the body but Emelyanov moves out of range.
Emelyanov appears to be looking for a big counter.

Sloppy strikes from Yilmaz. Those never looked like landing.
Yilmaz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Emelyanov.
Yilmaz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Emelyanov half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Emelyanov has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Yilmaz avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chengiz Yilmaz dominated that round.
That's time! Emelyanov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Yilmaz throws a nice looking combination but Emelyanov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Yilmaz throws a right and a left that both miss.
Emelyanov dives in and grabs Yilmaz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Yilmaz pushes down on Emelyanov's head and hops out.
Yilmaz looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Yilmaz pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
No joy there for Yilmaz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Yilmaz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Yilmaz wants it to stay on the feet.

Emelyanov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Yilmaz is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Yilmaz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Emelyanov did well to prevent Yilmaz getting side control.
Emelyanov tries to kick Yilmaz off in order to stand up. Yilmaz Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Yilmaz has hold of Emelyanov's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Emelyanov seems comfortable defending it but Yilmaz has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Emelyanov is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Emelyanov is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Yilmaz couldn't care less - he's delighted!
