Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dragior Repstien! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joseph Billington! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Billington rushes Repstien and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Billington's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Billington gets a double leg takedown into Repstien's guard. Repstien controls Billington momentarily but Billington frees himself. Repstien keeping full guard, as Billington tries to pass. Repstien looking to control.
Repstien tries to land a sweep but no joy. Billington slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Repstien is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Repstien is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Repstien is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Billington keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Billington is staying active underneath Repstien, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Billington manages to get to full guard.
Billington controls Repstien momentarily but Repstien frees himself. Billington is looking for a triangle but Repstien pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Billington tries to land a sweep but no joy. Repstien has gone for a leg lock! Billington slips out almost immediately though and dives into Repstien's guard.
Billington really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Repstien. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Billington wanted to stand there but Repstien had control of the position. Repstien wants to stand and escape but Billington is having none of it. Billington is fighting to break Repstien's control of his arms but Repstien is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Repstien keeping full guard, as Billington tries to pass. Repstien is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Repstien bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Billington's guard.
Repstien postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Billington is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Repstien, into his guard. Billington pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Repstien is keeping the position for now. Repstien looking for a triangle here. Billington is fighting it but it looks tight! Repstien pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Billington is tapping out - this one is all over!
