Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marv Nemera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nancy Pelosi! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pelosi bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Nemera's head backwards.
It looks like Marv Nemera has been cut. Pelosi misses the shot to the body. Nemera appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Nemera tries for a takedown but Pelosi circles away easily and Pelosi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Nice defenses there by Nemera. Pelosi misses with a looping right. Pelosi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pelosi wants it to stay on the feet. Pelosi has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Nemera misses with a takedown and Pelosi counters with a nice uppercut. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marv Nemera. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pelosi sends Nemera crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Pelosi is motioning to the referee to let Nemera up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nemera is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pelosi's half guard. Nemera slows the pace down in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nemera seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pelosi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Nemera not doing much here.
Pelosi wants to improve his position but Nemera is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Still in half guard, Nemera seems content to control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Nemera is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Pelosi is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
