Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Magnus V Karlson (ranked 2742 p4p, 296 weight class) and Bin Laden (ranked 3400 p4p, 347 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Magnus V Karlson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bin Laden! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laden tries to sprawl but Karlson drives through with a takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Laden avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Karlson. Laden is looking to improve his position.
Karlson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Laden defending well though. Karlson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Laden doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Karlson. Karlson seems to be looking for submissions.
Karlson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laden regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Karlson.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laden is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Karlson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Laden is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Karlson, into his guard. Laden looking to pass the guard. Karlson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Laden's guard. Karlson postures up and lands a big shot to Laden's brow. Karlson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Karlson stands and throws Laden's legs to the side, diving into side control. Laden is not content to let Karlson control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. An elbow from Karlson crashes against the mat.
Laden struggling a bit here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Karlson tries to advance to mount but Laden denies him. Karlson is looking to take a break and control but Laden is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Laden parries the strikes from Karlson easily there. Karlson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Laden to escape.
Karlson is trying to move to mount but Laden reverses beautifully and ends up in Karlson's guard. Karlson looking to control but Laden passes into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Karlson gets full guard. Karlson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Laden gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Laden stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Karlson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Karlson working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Laden has passed into half guard!
Laden controlling the action here. Karlson is looking for a sweep. Laden is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Karlson is trying to control but Laden manages to pass to mount!
Laden avoids the attempt from Karlson to control. Laden tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Karlson wants to control but Laden is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Karlson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Karlson has a hand on Laden's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Laden takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Laden tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Karlson tries to improve his position but instead Laden has taken his back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Magnus V Karlson will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Karlson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Laden struggling a bit here. Laden manages to work his way to half guard, despite Karlson's best efforts. Karlson missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Karlson wants to take a breather but Laden is having none of it. Laden keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Magnus V Karlson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Karlson wants to pass the guard but Laden is defending well. Laden is not content to let Karlson control the position. Karlson misses with a head shot. Laden uses the momentum to regain guard. Laden is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Laden's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Karlson throwing strikes from guard but Laden blocks nicely. Karlson is working Laden over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Laden controlling the position. Karlson with a flurry of punches that miss. Karlson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Laden working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Karlson.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Karlson shoots in and gets a takedown into Laden's guard. Laden pulls Karlson in close to prevent any damage. Karlson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Karlson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Karlson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laden is pulling down on Karlson's head to control his posture. Karlson scoring with punches to the head and body. Karlson controls from within his opponent's guard. Karlson trying to control but Laden is working from the bottom. Laden wants to sweep here but Karlson controlling him for the moment. Laden keeping moving, preventing Karlson from controlling successfully. Karlson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Laden dives on top into guard. Karlson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Karlson wants to improve his position but instead Laden has moved into half guard.

Laden prevents Karlson from improving his position. Karlson wants to control but Laden is keeping busy and won't allow it. Laden passes the guard and advances to mount! Karlson has given up his back here. Will Laden look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! I would not like to be Karlson right now.

Laden is refusing to be controlled, as Karlson sits in half guard. Karlson throwing shots but Laden is blocking nicely. Karlson is stalling here. Laden is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Karlson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Laden has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laden is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Karlson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Karlson wants to control but Laden postures up. Karlson tries to improve position but can't.

Laden works to advance to full mount. Karlson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Laden takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Karlson is looking to get to half guard. Karlson wants to control but Laden is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Karlson is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Karlson is working to get back to half guard.

Karlson is trying to reverse the position but instead Laden has taken his back - oops! Laden not allowing Karlson to control his hands. Karlson rolls, trying to escape but Laden keeps control of the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Karlson is working hard here to advance position. A bit of a pause in the action here. Laden controlling the positon.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Laden has the hooks in. Karlson is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Karlson breaks Laden's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Karlson throws a strike but Laden rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Karlson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Laden advances position into side control! A lull in the action here as Laden stalls from top position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Karlson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Bin Laden comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Karlson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
