Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tito Abbott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robby Kinner! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kinner fails with the takedown. Abbott misses with a takedown and Kinner counters with a nice body shot. Nice sprawl there from Abbott as Kinner shoots in. Kinner shoots for a double leg takedown but Abbott sprawls well. He's pushed Kinner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Tito Abbott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robby Kinner. Abbott darts in and clinches Kinner up against the cage. Abbott misses with the head strike.
Abbott has Kinner pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kinner manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Kinner breaks from the clinch.
Abbott wants to clinch up but Kinner keeps it at a distance. No luck for Kinner with that takedown attempt. Abbott fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kinner sprawls well initially but Abbott persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abbott is breathing heavily. This has been an exciting period of action! Abbott working over Kinner with some ground and pound. Kinner looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Kinner works his way to full guard. Good work. Kinner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Abbott gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Kinner had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Abbott is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kinner Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Abbott's back instead. Abbott is trying to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kinner is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Abbott controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Abbott rolls, trying to escape but Kinner keeps control of the position.
Kinner looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Abbott taps!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Robby Kinner!
