Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Royale steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sardou.
Sardou avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sardou changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Royale tries to clinch but fails miserably
so Sardou counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Royale trying to keep a closed guard but Sardou is proving a slippery customer.
Sardou gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Sardou tries a head kick but it misses.
Sardou clinches.
Sardou misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Royale.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Royale scores with a shoulder strike.
Sardou just leaning against Royale, taking a breather.
Royale tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Royale lands a nice shot to the body.

Sardou ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sardou no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Royale wants to control from the top but Sardou keeps moving.
Royale is fighting to break Sardou's control of his arms but Sardou is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sardou can do anything to dispel that myth.
Royale wants to stand but Sardou is controlling his posture from full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sardou takes the fight into the clinch.
Sardou tries to pull guard but Royale holds him up against the cage and eventually Sardou drops back down to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Royale ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Sardou looks winded!
Royale misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Royale tries to clinch but Sardou moves out of range.
Sardou drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Royale defends it well.
Sardou dives in and grabs Royale's left leg, looking for a takedown. Royale pushes down on Sardou's head and hops out.
Sardou blocks the body kick.
Sardou takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Royale tries to close the distance and clinch but Sardou swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Royale tries a head kick but it misses.
Sardou feints the counter takedown.
Royale lands a really nice looking cross but Sardou seems unphased.
Royale fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Sardou is rocked!
Sardou backs away from a small jab... but Royale lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Sardou crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Royale with a spectacular finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Connor Royale!
