Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kenneth Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shamus Murphy!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Murphy is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Murphy lands a glancing blow to the side of Smith's head.
The fighters circling - Murphy throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Smith displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Murphy throws out the jab.
Murphy misses with a left hand

and Smith counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Murphy!

Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Murphy is not content to let Smith control the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Smith is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Murphy has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith takes a little break here. Murphy wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Murphy is looking for a sweep.
What's Murphy going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Murphy felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Smith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Murphy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Smith is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Murphy looks calm but he's in trouble here. Smith gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Murphy is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Smith lets go of the hold and Murphy can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kenneth Smith!
Kenneth Smith really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Ma Balls Is Hot Clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
