Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carter Lynch (ranked 7179 p4p, 462 weight class) and Chris Columbus (ranked 7051 p4p, 457 weight class). Lynch comes to the cage accompanied by Skindred - Nobody. The key to victory for Carter Lynch has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Carter Lynch! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Columbus! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lynch misses with a kick to the body and Columbus counters with a shoot takedown. Lynch fights it but they end up in guard. Lynch working for a triangle but Columbus defends it easily.
Columbus seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Columbus throwing strikes but missing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lynch is trying to control the position but Columbus postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lynch can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Columbus controls the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Columbus is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Columbus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lynch swivels though and keeps the full guard. Columbus is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Lynch is trying to hold Columbus in close to prevent damage but Columbus has managed to pass into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lynch misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Lynch misses with a takedown attempt - Columbus sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lynch tries to clinch up and Columbus counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lynch won't be happy with that. Lynch struggling a bit here. Lynch is pushing Columbus's head away, looking to escape. Columbus manages to hold on to the position though. Lynch prevents Columbus from improving position. Columbus controlling the position. Columbus tries to advance to mount but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Columbus scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Lynch to see if he's OK. The referee asks Columbus politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Columbus prefers to stall for the moment though. Lynch tries to bench press Columbus off him but Columbus keeps the position. Columbus stands up and we're back to a striking position. Columbus tries to land a front kick but Lynch steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Lynch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Columbus counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Columbus. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carter Lynch. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lynch is breathing heavily. This has been an exciting period of action! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Columbus wants to pass the guard but Lynch is keeping the position. Columbus is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lynch tries to score a power double leg takedown but Columbus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lynch somewhat. Columbus tries to counter by closing the distance. Columbus lands a lovely overhand right. Carter Lynch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lynch drives through and clinches with Columbus against the cage.

Columbus has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lynch regains guard immediately.
That's one minute gone in the round. Columbus stays in close to Lynch's body and controls the position. Lynch has momentary wrist control but Columbus slips an elbow through the middle. Lynch is trying to control the position but Columbus postures up. Columbus stands up from guard. Let's bang! Lynch throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Columbus. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Columbus pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Lynch tries to counter by clinching up but Columbus breaks away and moves out of range. Columbus swinging wildly here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Columbus throws a right hand that Lynch ducks under and follows up with a left that Lynch also avoids with ease. Lynch drops down looking for a counter takedown but Columbus sprawls and moves away. Lynch throws a right and a left that Columbus avoids nicely. Columbus drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Columbus controls the position. Chris Columbus has got the better of the ground game so far. Lynch is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Columbus seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Columbus is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

We've been informed that Columbus has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Columbus seems to be working for a kimura but Lynch defends the submission attempt. Lynch trying to hold on to Columbus's head to control him but Columbus postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Columbus stops Lynch from getting back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Columbus has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Columbus connects with an inside leg kick. Lynch doesn't manage to clinch there - Columbus circles away.

Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lynch scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. We've been told by Lynch's head coaches at whitey's gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Lynch looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Lynch is looking to regain half guard here but Columbus keeps moving and retains side control. Columbus taking a breather here. Columbus moves into full mount! Columbus connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Lynch is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Columbus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lynch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The referee warns Lynch that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
