Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Niko Alzate (ranked 1959 p4p, 121 weight class) and Ichiro Suzuki (ranked 4356 p4p, 230 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Niko Alzate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ichiro Suzuki! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Ron Honeybunn and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alzate lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Alzate looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Alzate throws a predictable looking body shot
and Suzuki counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Alzate is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Suzuki pulls his head out easily. Suzuki is looking for a kimura but Alzate is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Suzuki to get the leverage. Suzuki tries to pass to full mount but Alzate defends it. Suzuki is keen to just control but Alzate is a slippery customer. Alzate controlling the position well. Alzate is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Suzuki pulls his head out easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Suzuki is looking to take a break and control but Alzate is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Alzate slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suzuki looking to sit in guard and control but Alzate gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Alzate preventing the sweep. Suzuki is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Alzate wants to control from the top but Suzuki keeps moving. Suzuki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Alzate is aware though and is defending well. Alzate trying to control but Suzuki is working from the bottom. Alzate stands and throws Suzuki's legs to the side, diving into side control. Alzate wants to lay and pray for a moment but Suzuki keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suzuki tries to improve position but can't. Suzuki prevents Alzate from improving position. Suzuki sneaks back into half guard. Alzate trying to control from half guard but Suzuki is working away. Suzuki is looking to improve his position.
Alzate seems to be looking for submissions.
Alzate content to control rather than advance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alzate trying to pass the guard but Suzuki defending well. Suzuki tries to roll over but Alzate keeps him under control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alzate trying to work for an americana but Suzuki has managed to regain full guard.
Suzuki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alzate doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alzate manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Alzate got a little sloppy there for a moment and Suzuki has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alzate has managed to get both his arms back between Suzuki's legs - danger averted.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Alzate trying to control the position from guard on top but Suzuki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Alzate feints and then cracks Suzuki's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Suzuki down. A chopping leg kick lands by Alzate. A slapping leg kick lands for Alzate.
Alzate throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Alzate throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Alzate looks to land a body kick but Suzuki moved away. Alzate keeps Suzuki at a distance using the push kick. Suzuki chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Alzate can pounce on him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Niko Alzate dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Suzuki looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Alzate scoring well with a low kick there.
Suzuki stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Alzate. A good leg kick by Alzate. Suzuki fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Alzate avoids it really well and circles away. Alzate swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Suzuki crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Alzate - the referee stops the clock and Suzuki gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Alzate. Suzuki manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alzate misses with a body kick. And Suzuki tries to counter it with a takedown but Alzate pushes his down on his head and steps out. Suzuki takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Suzuki fails with the takedown and Alzate counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Niko Alzate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ichiro Suzuki. Alzate looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

That's one minute gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Suzuki. Alzate throws a big counter combination but Suzuki scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Alzate scores with a head kick.
Niko Alzate is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Alzate listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Alzate throws a push kick but Suzuki slaps the foot to one side. Nice shot lands for Alzate. Suzuki takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Alzate throws a quick inside leg kick. Suzuki fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Alzate avoids it really well and circles away. It looked like Alzate was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Suzuki's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Alzate scores with a nice right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alzate defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Suzuki. Suzuki tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Alzate's corner calls for a 1-2. Alzate obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Alzate connects with a high kick.
It looks like Ichiro Suzuki has been cut. Suzuki fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Alzate avoids it really well and circles away. Alzate throws a quick inside leg kick. Alzate misses with a wild body shot. Alzate throws a front kick that sends Suzuki stumbling back into the cage. Alzate throws a leg kick which misses Suzuki's front leg but catches the back leg as Suzuki tries to avoid it. A good leg kick by Alzate.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alzate lands with a thumping leg kick.
A decent looking cross lands there for Alzate. Alzate getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Alzate throws a leg kick which misses Suzuki's front leg but catches the back leg as Suzuki tries to avoid it. Suzuki looks for a takedown but Alzate sprawls well. Alzate lands a left and a right that send Suzuki crashing to the mat, dazed. Alzate thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Suzuki is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Suzuki throws a lazy uppercut
and Alzate counters with a slapping leg kick. Suzuki is still on wobbly legs! Can Alzate finish him? Suzuki takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Alzate comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Alzate lands with a kick to the ribs.
Suzuki steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Alzate. That one must have hurt. Suzuki seems to have recovered his senses. Suzuki is breathing heavily. Alzate keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Suzuki shoots in and drives through. Alzate sprawls well. Alzate throws a quick head kick that knocks Suzuki silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Alzate is up on the cage, taking in the applause from the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Niko Alzate! Niko Alzate bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
