Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Quinoa Smiff (ranked 17400 p4p, 551 weight class) and Pablo Escobarre (ranked 14968 p4p, 557 weight class). Escobarre has chosen Xzibit- Alcoholic as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 7 losses; Quinoa Smiff! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Pablo Escobarre! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Smiff misses with a takedown attempt - Escobarre sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Escobarre moves into the clinch. Escobarre has clasped his hands together around Smiff's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Smiff (0) vs (4) Escobarre Escobarre tries for a kimura but Smiff is defending well. Escobarre working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Escobarre is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smiff knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Escobarre wants to control but Smiff is keeping him busy. Escobarre thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Smiff is not content to let Escobarre control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Escobarre is trying to get an arm triangle but Smiff is defending well. Escobarre is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smiff is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Escobarre looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Escobarre trying to control the position but Smiff is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Escobarre swings around for an armbar but Smiff sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Escobarre's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Smiff (2) vs (4) Escobarre The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Escobarre wants to sweep here but Smiff controlling him for the moment. Smiff tries to free his leg and advance position but Escobarre is retaining full guard. We've been hearing good reports from Smiff's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Escobarre has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smiff can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Smiff is pushing down on Escobarre's leg trying to pass to half guard. Escobarre is fighting to maintain full guard but Smiff has managed to sneak the leg through. Escobarre wants to get back to full guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Smiff looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Smiff is thwarting Escobarre's attempts to control the position. Smiff prevents Escobarre from improving his position. Smiff wants to pass the guard but Escobarre is defending well. Escobarre tries to roll over but Smiff keeps him under control. Smiff is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Smiff tries to free his leg and advance position but Escobarre is retaining full guard.

Escobarre swivels though and keeps the full guard. Escobarre looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Escobarre has his foot on Smiff's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smiff works his way back into a safe position though. Smiff looking to pass the guard. Escobarre is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smiff is aware though and is defending well. Smiff trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. That's six minutes gone in the round. Smiff sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Escobarre's guard. Smiff wants to advance to full mount but Escobarre doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Smiff tries to free his leg and advance position but Escobarre is retaining full guard. Smiff works a leg free and moves into half guard. Smiff wants to pass to mount but Escobarre is defending the position. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Escobarre is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Escobarre makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Escobarre. Escobarre looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smiff is one step ahead there. Escobarre is trying to control the position but Smiff postures up.

Smiff lying in Escobarre's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Escobarre decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Smiff taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
