PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hyryx Dall (ranked 243 p4p, 40 weight class) and John Ruth (ranked 383 p4p, 51 weight class). Dall's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Rattlesnake. John Ruth told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruth throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Ruth avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A nice leg kick lands there from Dall.
Ruth looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Dall has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Dall there as he acknowledges the shot.
Ruth drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dall working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ruth doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ruth manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dall seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Ruth stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dall swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ruth got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dall has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ruth has managed to get both his arms back between Dall's legs - danger averted.

Dall escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ruth gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dall had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ruth defends it easily.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Dall.
Ruth takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Ruth might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Well Dall has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
