Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ron Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruben Valderon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ron Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ruben Valderon!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valderon doesn't manage to clinch there - Paul circles away.
Danga de danga de dang - Valderon scores with a four punch combination!
Paul lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Valderon circles away quickly and effectively.
Paul misses with the combination.
Valderon throws a right and a left that Paul avoids nicely.

Valderon clinches up against the cage.
Paul is working for takedown but Valderon is calmly controlling the position for now.
Valderon is trying to break the clinch but Paul has him pressed against the cage.

Paul breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Valderon tries to clinch but Paul is having none of it.

Valderon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Paul as he avoids it easily.
Valderon looks to land a combination but Paul avoids it well.

Valderon throws a nice looking combination but Paul bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Valderon throws a right and a left that both miss.
Valderon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Paul looks for a takedown but Valderon sprawls well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Valderon bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Paul's head.

Paul looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Valderon is looking to escape.
Valderon blocking the ground and pound attempt from Paul.
Valderon tries to kick Paul off but Paul keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Valderon is defending against the submission attempts here by Paul.
Valderon pushes Paul off looking to stand but Paul dives back in and keeps control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A jab lands there for Paul.
Paul misses with a takedown attempt
and Valderon counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Paul shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Paul showed some decent athleticism there.
Paul passes the guard and advances to mount!
Paul landing strikes from the mount.
Valderon is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Paul trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Paul looking to secure an arm triangle but Valderon defends it well.
Valderon wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Paul is landing with some decent strikes but Valderon is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Valderon is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ron Paul will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Valderon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Paul manages to avoid it.

Paul closes this distance looking for a takedown but Valderon circles away.

Valderon lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Paul backs up against the cage.
Valderon jabs Paul right on the nose. Paul blinks but takes it well.
Paul shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Valderon pinned against the cage. Valderon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Valderon sizes up Paul with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Paul misses the shot to the body.
Valderon misses with the combination.

Paul wants to clinch up but Valderon keeps it at a distance.
Paul has a takedown stuffed.
Valderon looks to land a combination. Paul sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Paul shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Valderon tries to bum rush Paul with a series of wild strikes but Paul uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Paul ducks under a wild hook from Valderon.
A combination from Valderon does no damage.
Paul misses with a takedown attempt - Valderon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Valderon darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Ron Paul is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Paul misses with a two punch combination.

Valderon wants to clinch.
Valderon shoots for a double leg takedown but Paul sprawls well. He's pushed Valderon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Paul shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Paul showed some decent athleticism there.
Paul has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Valderon is squirming around, avoiding Paul's attempts to control the action.
Valderon's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Paul tries to control but Valderon wriggling away.

Paul is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Valderon is forced to tap! Great finish!
