Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Hightower (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deon Du Plessis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Deon Du Plessis!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Du Plessis stuffs the takedown.
Hightower shoots in for a takedown but Du Plessis shows good takedown defense.
Du Plessis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hightower shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Du Plessis but Du Plessis pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Hightower decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Du Plessis's guard.
Du Plessis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hightower. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Good leg kick by Hightower there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

so Hightower counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Du Plessis drops back looking for a leg! Hightower is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hightower manages to kick Du Plessis off! Du Plessis jumps back into Hightower's guard.

Du Plessis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hightower's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Peter Hightower will probably get the nod.
