Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kybeau Ren (ranked 5823 p4p, 509 weight class) and Diego Diaz (ranked 3136 p4p, 359 weight class). Diego Diaz is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kybeau Ren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Diego Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice shot lands for Ren.
Ren scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Diaz doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ren makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Diaz takes the fight into the clinch.
Diaz tries to throw a body punch but Ren avoids it by throwing Diaz back against the cage.
Ren stalling in the clinch but Diaz improves position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ren blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Ren goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A bit of stalling here from Ren.

Diaz looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Diaz tightens his grip and picks Ren up, before dumping him to the ground. Ren manages to land in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ren sees it coming and defends easily.
Diaz is pressing down on Ren's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ren is holding on for now.
Diaz is looking to take a break and control but Ren is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Diaz looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Diaz is working for a submission of some sort.
Diaz prevents Ren from improving his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ren is refusing to be controlled, as Diaz sits in half guard.
Diaz trying to pass the guard but Ren defending well.

Diaz controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Diaz slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Diaz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ren, who protects the arm well.
Diaz wants to control but Ren is keeping him busy.

Diaz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ren is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Diaz is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Diaz tries to advance to mount but Ren denies him.
Diaz throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
We've been hearing good reports from Ren's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
A lull in the action here as Diaz stalls from top position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ren is not content to let Diaz control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diego Diaz dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ren fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Diaz looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Ren closes the distance and clinches.
Diaz misses with a punch on the inside.
Ren taking a breather.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz tries to land a knee to the head but Ren blocks with his arms.

Ren escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ren swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ren swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ren knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.

Ren has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Diaz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ren's guard.
Diaz passes the guard and advances to mount!
Diaz sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Diaz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ren is looking to get to half guard.
Ren wants to control but Diaz is having none of it.
Diaz is looking to work his way around to Ren's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
The referee warns Ren that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ren is looking to escape.
Diaz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Diaz mounts Ren! Really nice guard pass there!
Ren is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Diaz is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Ren has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Ren!

Diaz looking for a guillotine here but Ren defends easily.
Diaz has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ren is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Ren is sitting in close to Diaz's body. Diaz has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ren is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ren is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Diaz.

Diego Diaz gave a mention to Condemned in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
